Bernat Klein Mail Order
—In 1974/ 75 Bernat Klein introduced his seasonal Mail Order Catalogues.
The catalogues opened up a new opportunity for Klein's Ladies Wear customers, as they offered a selection of ready-to-wear garments in his newly developed machine knitted polyester with screen printed abstract designs. Produced in a wide selection of colour-ways they used the principles of his six Personal Colour Guides developed in 1965. Through the mail order business Klein was able to promote his ready-to-make sets of woven tweeds and complementary knitting yarns designed by Margaret Klein, which proved popular and affordable for home-dressmakers of that time. The printed polyester was also sold by the yard, allowing customers to make their own version of a Bernat Klein garment.
